John Onofrey is a Texas-licensed Professional Real Estate Inspector (TREC # 6546) and a Certified Master Inspector. A Texas Professional Real Estate Inspector is the highest level of inspector license available. To obtain this license, Mr. Onofrey qualified first as a Real Estate Inspector and then met additional experience and educational requirements while working as a Real Estate Inspector before passing a rigorous exam.
The Certified Master Inspector designation means that Mr. Onofrey has the professional education and the home and commercial inspection experience to be counted among the best inspectors in the World. In order to earn the CMI designation, a real estate inspector must meet the following standards:
- Agree to abide by the real estate inspection industry’s toughest code of ethics;
- Complete a rigorous course of professional education;
- Complete at least 1,000 paid real estate inspections and/or hours of training and education combined;
- Have three years of real estate inspection experience before becoming certified; and
- Agree to submit to periodic criminal background checks.
John has also completed demanding programs in building inspection technology from Texas A&M and other educational institutions. In addition, he’s earned the following certifications and licenses related to real estate inspectors:
- Designated a Certified Home Inspector (#03071601) by the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors;
- Certified by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) as a Renovation Consultant (#D0808);
- Certified as a Termite and Pest Control Applicator (#561366);
- Certified as a Residential Energy Inspector by CMC Energy;
- Certified Septic Inspector by the National Association of Wastewater Technicians; and
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) awarded by Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI).
Mr. Onofrey served in the US Marine Corps and was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps medal for heroism, the Marine Corps Expeditionary medal, Good Conduct medal and Sea Service deployment ribbon. He’s been a member of Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors, National Association of Certified Home Inspectors, Houston Association of Realtors, Building Industry Consulting Service International, Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan Houston, BNI West Memorial and the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Onofrey has also served on the Board of Directors of the Fort Bend Chapter of the Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors, and served on the original Steering Committee for the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors as a member at large.
Charles L. (Chuck) Pogue

Mr. Pogue has over 30 years of experience in both residential and commercial design and construction in the Houston area. Chuck served his Country for six years as an Avionics Technician in the US Navy and then worked as a construction superintendent with Pride Homes in Sugar Land. He eventually rose to become a part-owner and Vice President. He also launched Pogue Construction Company and successfully developed and operated neighborhood shopping centers around Houston. In 2007, Mr. Pogue joined Academy Sports & Outdoors as Director of Construction. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Director of Construction & Maintenance and then to Executive Director of Construction and Maintenance.
Chuck’s background makes him superbly qualified to conduct inspections as one of our professional real estate inspectors. His qualifications include:
- Texas-Licensed Professional Real Estate Inspector (TREC #20484), which is the highest level of inspector licensed in Texas;
- Texas-Licensed Commercial Pest Control Technician (Under BL #13959); and
- Certified Home Inspector by the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (#NACHI12052901).
Mr. Henley is a Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) Professional Inspector (license # 21894), as well as Commercial Pest Control Technician (TDA license # 0754424).
Darren began his career 30+ years ago as a contract trim carpenter, cabinet maker. He spent many years learning the construction industry, while honing his carpentry and customer service skills. After several years Darren started his own general contracting company, Henley Construction. While specializing in re-modeling and renovations he also continued using his carpentry expertise for many clients.
Following the birth of his son, Darren expanded his skill set as a Construction Manager for a local Houston-area home builder. He quickly worked his way up consistently achieving top 10 builder and maintained this status after transferring to a top national home building company. In 2008, Darren moved into a Construction Manager position in the commercial building industry.
The natural progression of his career led him into the ultimate customer service industry of real estate inspections. He has utilized his talents and training over the years and takes great pride helping people though all phases of building or purchasing a home for their family. His well-rounded experience in residential and commercial construction mixed with a devotion to customer care, plus his good nature enables him to take great care of customers. His training and career history make him an experienced and highly-professional home and termite inspector.
